§ 61029 Mountain House Board Transition

Key Takeaways

  • •The San Joaquin County leaders are in charge of the Mountain House Community Services District until there are enough voters.
  • •When there are 1,000 or more voters, the county leaders must ask the voters if they want to elect their own leaders for the district.
  • •The voters will decide if the leaders should be elected by everyone or by smaller groups in the district.
  • •If most voters say yes, the first election for the new leaders will happen at the next big election.

Example

Imagine a small town called Mountain House where the county leaders make all the decisions. Over time, more people move in, and soon there are 1,000 voters.

The county leaders must then ask the voters if they want to choose their own leaders. If most voters agree, they will start electing their own leaders in the next big election.
