§ 61011 District Formation Petition Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •To create a new district, people must sign a petition with specific details.
  • •The petition must say what services the district will provide and how it will pay for them.
  • •At least 25% of the voters in the area must sign the petition.
  • •The petition must follow certain rules, and if there's a conflict, these rules win.

Example

A group of neighbors wants to create a new district to improve local parks.

They need to write a petition that says what park services they want, how they'll pay for it (like special taxes), and get at least 25% of the local voters to sign it. If they don't follow the rules, their petition won't work.
