§ 6040 Legal Publication Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If the law says something must be announced in a newspaper, it has to be a newspaper that lots of people read.
  • •The newspaper must be one that is widely available and not just a small or special-interest paper.
  • •This rule applies to all official announcements, notices, or orders that need to be published.

Example

The city wants to tell everyone about a new rule that dogs must be on a leash in the park.

They can't just put the notice in a tiny neighborhood newsletter. They have to publish it in a big newspaper that most people in the city read, like the daily local paper.
