§ 57533 Merged District Fund Usage

Key Takeaways

  • •When a district merges with a city, its money and property can be used for anything the city needs.
  • •The city should try to use that money and property to help the people and places in the old district.
  • •The city council decides how to use it fairly.

Example

A small school district merges with a nearby city. The school district had some extra money saved up.

The city can use that money for things like fixing roads or parks, but they should try to spend some of it on the schools or neighborhoods that were part of the old district.
