§ 57476 City Property Transfer Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •When two cities merge into one, all the stuff they owned (like parks, buildings, or land) now belongs to the new city.
  • •If the old cities had people or groups taking care of that stuff, the new city takes over that job.
  • •This rule makes sure public things (like libraries or roads) stay public and don’t get lost or sold off when cities combine.

Example

Two small towns, Town A and Town B, decide to merge into one bigger town called Town C.

All the parks, buildings, and land that Town A and Town B owned now belong to Town C. If Town A had a park manager, that person now works for Town C to keep taking care of the park.
