§ 57453 District Dissolution Powers

Key Takeaways

  • •When a district is closed, the new group in charge can sell or get rid of the old district's stuff.
  • •They can also settle any arguments or money problems the old district had.
  • •They can take the old district to court or be taken to court, just like the old district could.
  • •These powers start when the district closes and last until everything is finished.

Example

A small school district is closed and merged into a larger one.

The new school district can sell the old school's buildings and land. They can also handle any old problems, like if someone said the old district owed them money. They can do this until everything from the old district is taken care of.
