§ 57139 District Officer Election Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If a special vote is held to combine areas or create a new one, leaders and officers are picked as per the main rules.
  • •If the main rules say leaders must be elected, they are chosen during the same special vote that decides if the areas will combine.
  • •If people vote 'yes' to combine, the leaders elected in that vote become the official leaders of the new or combined area.

Example

Two small towns want to become one bigger town.

They hold a special vote. During this vote, people also pick the new town's mayor and council. If most people vote 'yes' to combine, the mayor and council chosen in that vote become the official leaders of the new bigger town.
