§ 56827 Special District Reorganization Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can start changing how special districts (like local service areas) are organized without asking a committee first.
  • •If the change might affect an independent special district (like merging or closing it), they might ask a committee to check it first.
  • •If the change affects more than one special district, they should use a committee to review it.

Example

A small town wants to merge its fire department with a nearby town to save money.

The government can start this process right away, but if it affects another town's special district, they might ask a committee to review the plan first.
