§ 51510 City Property Tax Values

Key Takeaways

  • •Every year, the county auditor must send a report to the city leaders by the third Monday in August.
  • •The report shows the total value of all property in the city and in each area with different tax rates.
  • •The property values come from the county's assessment books, which are checked and fixed if needed.

Example

Imagine your city has a fancy neighborhood and a regular neighborhood. The fancy one has bigger houses, so they might pay more taxes.

The county auditor looks at how much all the houses and land are worth in each neighborhood. Then they send this info to the city leaders so they know how much money they can get from taxes.
