§ 51096 Open-Space Easement Restrictions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law is about protecting open spaces, like parks or farmland, from being built on.
  • •If someone agrees to keep their land open and natural, the government will help make sure it stays that way.
  • •The land can't be used for buildings or other stuff that would ruin the open space.

Example

A farmer wants to keep their land as a farm forever and not sell it to developers.

The farmer can make a deal with the government to protect their land. This means no one can build houses or shops on it later.
