§ 45303 Employee Retirement System Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •Before a new retirement plan for workers can start, there must be a vote.
  • •The workers who will be in the plan get to vote yes or no.
  • •The vote must be secret, so no one knows how you voted.

Example

A city wants to create a new retirement plan for its bus drivers.

The city must hold a secret vote where all the bus drivers can say if they want the new plan or not. If most drivers vote yes, the plan can start. If not, the city can't make the plan.
