§ 43098 City Property Tax Calculation

Key Takeaways

  • •The city decides how much tax people pay on their property.
  • •The tax amount is calculated using the property's value and the city's tax rate.
  • •The tax amount is written in a special book called the 'assessment book'.

Example

If you own a house in the city, you have to pay a tax on it every year.

The city looks at how much your house is worth and uses a special rate to figure out how much tax you owe. They write this amount in a book so they know how much you need to pay.
