§ 32233 County Fire Retirement Exclusivity

• •If you work for the county or county fire department, you can only be part of this one retirement system.
• •You can't join any other retirement system for county or fire department workers.
• •This rule has been in place since 1947.

A firefighter wants to join a different retirement plan offered by another county.
