§ 32061 Reentry Contribution And Credit

• •If you retire with a disability and later go back to work for the county, you can rejoin the pension system.
• •Your pension contributions will be based on your age when you start working again.
• •You get credit for your old work time if you pay back the money you got when you retired.
• •You have 6 months after starting your new job to pay back that money.

John retired early because he got hurt at work. He got some pension money when he retired. Later, he feels better and gets a job with the county again.

John can join the pension system again, but he has to pay back the pension money he got when he retired. If he does this within 6 months of starting his new job, his old work time will count toward his pension again.
