§ 32058 Disability Pensioner Medical Review

• •If you're under 50 and retired early because of a disability, the board can ask you to see a doctor.

• •After the check-up, the board decides if you're still too sick or hurt to do your old job.

A firefighter retires at 45 because of a bad back injury. A few years later, the board asks him to see a doctor to check if his back is better.

The board wants to make sure the firefighter is still too hurt to work. If the doctor says he’s fine, the board might stop his disability pension.
