• •Compensation is the money you get paid in cash from county or district funds.
• •If you put money into a special savings plan from your paycheck, that money is still counted as part of your compensation.
• •Things like free meals, housing, or gas are not counted as part of your compensation.

If you work for the county and get a paycheck of $2000, and $200 is taken out for a savings plan, your total compensation is still $2000.

The law says that even if some money is saved for later, it's still part of what you earn. But if your job gives you free lunch, that doesn't count as part of your pay.
