§ 29838 Warrant Redemption Procedures

• •If you don't cash in your warrant (like a check from the government) within 60 days after being told to, the money set aside for it will be used to pay off older, unpaid warrants.
• •If you have a warrant that was advertised and you bring it to the treasurer with the right signatures, they can still pay you with any extra money they have that isn't already promised to something else.

Imagine the government sends you a check for $100 because they owe you money, and they tell you to cash it within 60 days.

If you forget and don't cash it in time, the government will use that $100 to pay someone else who is waiting longer for their money. But if you later remember and bring the check to the government office with the right signatures, they might still pay you if they have extra money available.
