§ 23385 County Property Transfer Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •When a new county is created, all the money, records, and property from the old counties become the new county's.
  • •This includes anything the old counties owned or held for the public, like parks or buildings.
  • •The new county now takes care of these things instead of the old ones.

Example

Imagine two small towns, Town A and Town B, decide to merge and become a new town called Town C.

All the money, land, and important papers that belonged to Town A and Town B now belong to Town C. If Town A had a park or Town B had a community center, those now belong to Town C.
