§ 23218 District Boundary Protection

Key Takeaways

  • •School and special districts stay the same even if county lines change.
  • •If a county's borders change, it doesn't automatically change school or special district borders.
  • •To change school or special district borders after a county line change, there must be a separate legal process.

Example

A county changes its borders, and a school district is now split between two counties.

The school district stays the same and doesn't automatically split or change. If people want to change the school district borders, they have to follow a separate legal process after the county border change.
