§ 21076 State Retirement Allowance Calculation

Key Takeaways

  • •This law tells you how much pension money you get when you retire, based on your age and how long you worked for the state.
  • •The older you are when you retire, the bigger the fraction of your final salary you get as pension.
  • •You only get this pension if you started working for the state before January 1, 2013.
  • •National Guard members don’t get this pension.

Example

A person retires at age 55 after working for the state for 20 years. Their final salary was $60,000.

The law says that at age 55, the fraction is 0.7500. So, they get 0.7500 * 20 * $60,000 = $90,000 per year as pension.
