§ 20994 Military Service Membership Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work for a company and go to the military, you still get the same job benefits as if you never left.
  • •You get credit for the time you were in the military, like it counts as time you worked at the company.
  • •You must come back to work within 6 months after leaving the military to get these benefits.
  • •This only works if you left the military under good conditions, not if you were kicked out for bad behavior.

Example

John works at a company but joins the Army for 2 years. When he comes back, he wants his old job benefits.

John gets his job benefits like he never left, and the 2 years in the Army count as time he worked at the company. But he must return to work within 6 months after leaving the Army.
