§ 20829 Fund Transfer Reimbursement Rules

• •If the state pays money from one fund, it can get that money back from another fund it controls.
• •The person in charge of the money must tell the Controller how much to move and where to move it from and to.
• •The Controller then moves the money as instructed.

Imagine the state has a fund for schools and another for parks. The school fund pays for something, but the money should have come from the parks fund.

The person managing the money can ask the Controller to move money from the parks fund to the school fund to fix the mistake.
