§ 14713 Public Building Energy Retrofits

• •The state must update old public buildings to make them better, but only if it's possible to do so.
• •If a public building makes more electricity than it needs, it can share the extra power with the state's electricity system.
• •For California State University buildings, updates only happen if the university asks for it or agrees to it.

A public school has old windows and lights that waste energy.

The state will try to update the school with better windows and lights to save energy. If the school starts making extra electricity from solar panels, it can send that power to help other places that need it.
