§ 13299 State Auditor Financial Reports

Key Takeaways

  • •The State Auditor checks how much money the state should have and how much it actually has.
  • •They write this down in a special paper (affidavit) and share it with the Secretary of State.
  • •They also put this info in a newspaper in Sacramento so people can see it.

Example

Imagine you have a piggy bank, and your mom checks how much money should be in it based on your allowance. Then she counts the actual money inside.

The State Auditor does something similar for the state's money. They check how much money the state should have and how much is really there, then tell everyone by sharing it in a newspaper.
