§ 12553 Special Prosecution Counsel Fees

Key Takeaways

  • •If the local prosecutor can't handle a criminal case, the state's top lawyer can step in.
  • •The state will pay for a special lawyer to take over the case if needed.
  • •This only happens in criminal cases, not other types of legal problems.

Example

The local prosecutor is friends with someone accused of stealing from a store.

Since the prosecutor can't be fair, the state's top lawyer will hire someone else to handle the case. The state pays for this new lawyer.
