§ 12170 Secretary Of State Report

Key Takeaways

  • •The Secretary of State must send a report to the Governor every two years by September 15th.
  • •The report must include everything the Secretary of State did since the last report.
  • •The report must also show how all the money given to the Secretary’s office was spent, and this part must be sworn to be true.

Example

Imagine the Secretary of State is like the manager of a school. Every two years, they have to tell the principal (the Governor) what they did and how they spent the school’s money.

The manager writes a big report saying what happened at the school—like new rules, events, or changes—and also shows receipts for everything bought, like books or computers. They promise the receipts are real by signing under oath.
