§ 11549 State Information Security Office

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a special office in the government called the Office of Information Security. Its job is to keep the state's computer systems and apps safe and private so people can trust them.
  • •The boss of this office is called the Chief. The Governor picks this person, and they report to the Director of Technology.
  • •This office helps other government offices keep their information safe and private.
  • •If you see the old name 'Office of Information Security and Privacy Protection' in any law or contract, it now means the Office of Information Security.

Example

Imagine you have a secret diary where you write all your personal stuff. You wouldn't want anyone to read it without your permission, right?

The Office of Information Security is like a guardian for the state's secret diaries (computer systems). They make sure no one can read, change, or delete the information without permission. They also help other government offices keep their secret diaries safe.
