§ 6521 Escrow Agent Authorization Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Groups or companies can help handle money and papers when you buy, sell, or rent property.
  • •If the group has a special name for this service, they need to get it approved by the boss (commissioner).
  • •This rule is special and doesn’t follow the usual rules for these kinds of services.

Example

You want to buy a house, and you use a company to hold the money until everything is signed and ready.

The company can legally do this, but if they call this service something fancy like 'Super Safe Money Holder,' they need to ask the commissioner if that name is okay first.
