§ 5103 Certificate Of Authority Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'certificate of authority' is like a permission slip for a group (association) to do business.
  • •This permission slip is given by a person in charge (the commissioner).
  • •If the group already had a valid license before this law started, it still counts as a permission slip.

Example

A group of people want to start a business together.

They need to get a 'certificate of authority' from the commissioner to legally do business. If they already had a license before this law, they don't need a new one.
