§ 21051 Loan Rate Exemption Threshold

Key Takeaways

  • •This law says that some rules about how much money lenders can charge don't apply to loans of $2,500 or more.
  • •You can't use this rule to trick the system and avoid following the other lending laws.
  • •If you borrow $2,500 or more, the lender might charge you more interest or fees than they could for smaller loans.

Example

You need to borrow $3,000 to fix your car.

Because the loan is for more than $2,500, the lender might charge you higher interest or fees than they would for a smaller loan. But they can't use this rule just to avoid following other lending laws.
