§ 1879 Corporate Loan Discount Prohibition

Key Takeaways

  • •If you work for a company, you can't lend money on a loan that your company already said no to.
  • •This rule is for anyone who works at or helps run the company.
  • •If you break this rule, you have to pay back double the money you lent.

Example

You work at a bank, and your friend asks the bank for a loan. The bank says no. Later, your friend asks you for the same loan, and you give it to them.

This is not allowed. You work at the bank, and the bank already refused the loan. If you lend the money anyway, you have to pay back twice what you lent.
