§ 18497 Guaranty Corporation Investment Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •The Guaranty Corporation can only invest its money in things that are easy to buy and sell, like certain stocks or bonds.
  • •The commissioner (a person in charge) can ask the Guaranty Corporation to share information about where its money is invested.
  • •If asked, the Guaranty Corporation must give permission to show its financial records to the commissioner.

Example

Imagine the Guaranty Corporation wants to invest money in a new shopping mall.

It can't do this because shopping malls aren't easy to buy or sell quickly. Instead, it must invest in things like stocks or bonds that can be sold easily. Also, if the commissioner asks, the Guaranty Corporation must show where all its money is invested.
