§ 7363 Bay-Delta Fishing Advisory Committee

Key Takeaways

  • •A special group of 9 people (the Advisory Committee) is chosen to help decide how to spend money from fishing stamps.
  • •The group suggests projects and budgets to improve fishing in the Bay-Delta area, and the department must seriously consider their ideas.
  • •Every year, the department must report how the fishing stamp money was spent, including what projects were done and why some ideas were not used.
  • •The department must also post details about the projects online, like who got the money and what they did with it.

Example

Imagine you buy a special fishing stamp to fish in the Bay-Delta area. The money from that stamp goes into a fund.

A group of experienced fishermen and representatives from fishing groups helps decide how to spend that money to make fishing better. They might suggest building more fish habitats or cleaning up the water. The department has to listen to their ideas and tell everyone how the money was used.
