§ 2077 Endangered Species Review Process

This law says the state must check every five years if endangered or threatened animals are still in danger. If they find new info, they can change how they protect them.

Key Takeaways

  • •The state checks on endangered animals every 5 years.
  • •They use the best science to decide if the animal is still in trouble.
  • •If the animal is doing better, they might change the rules to protect it less.
  • •Anyone can ask the state to check on an animal sooner if they have new info.

Example

Imagine a type of frog was almost gone 10 years ago, so the state protected it. Now, scientists find lots of these frogs in a new pond.

The state must check if the frog is still in danger. If not, they might stop protecting it as much.
