§ 2001 Wildlife Harvesting Limits

This law says you can only take (hunt, fish, or collect) mammals, birds, fish, reptiles, or amphibians during the right season and you can’t take more than the set limits.

Key Takeaways

  • •You must only take animals during the season the state says is open.
  • •You can’t exceed the bag (how many you can take at one time) or possession limits set by law.
  • •Fish, reptiles, and amphibians can only be kept during the season or for 10 days after the season ends; game birds and mammals can only be kept during the season they were taken.

Example

A person goes fishing for trout on March 1, but the trout season doesn’t open until April 1.

Because the fish was taken outside the open season, the person broke the law and could be fined or charged.
