§ 1347 Wildlife Land Acquisition Program

This law says the wildlife board must decide which lands or water rights the state should buy to help wildlife and give people more places to enjoy nature.

Key Takeaways

  • •The board must use studies to pick lands or water rights to acquire.
  • •The goal is the biggest boost for wildlife and the most fun for people.
  • •The rule started working on July 1, 1993.

Example

The state wants to protect a swamp where many ducks live, so the board looks at studies and decides to buy that swamp for the public.

Because the board decided the swamp is important for wildlife and recreation, the state can purchase it under this law.
