§ 9006 Adoption Petition Withdrawal Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If the person trying to adopt a kid changes their mind and wants to stop the adoption, the court must tell the right people (like a probation officer or social worker) right away.
  • •If the birth parent says no to the adoption, the whole thing gets canceled.

Example

A couple wants to adopt a baby, but the baby's mom says no.

The court will stop the adoption because the mom didn’t agree to it.
