§ 8625 Adoption Facilitator Public Notice

Key Takeaways

  • •Starting January 1, 2024, it's illegal to work as an 'adoption facilitator' in the state.
  • •Only certain approved people or groups can help with adoptions.
  • •The government will list all old adoption facilitators on their website so people know who they were.
  • •Old adoption facilitators must tell their clients they’re closing and who can help instead.

Example

A family wants to adopt a baby and finds a person online who says they can help for a fee.

If that person isn’t on the official list of approved adoption helpers, they’re breaking the law. The family should check the government’s website to find the right people to help them.
