§ 4610 Child Support Security Deposits

Key Takeaways

  • •If a parent is behind on child support payments by 60 days, the court can make them put money or stuff away to make sure future payments are made.
  • •The court will give the parent a chance to explain before making this order.
  • •The court can also quickly stop the parent from selling or hiding their money or stuff if someone asks.

Example

A dad is supposed to pay $500 every month for his kid but hasn't paid for 2 months. The mom tells the court, and the court can make the dad put money or things like a car or house papers with the court to make sure he pays in the future.

The court can make the dad save money or things to make sure he pays child support later. They can also quickly stop him from selling his stuff if the mom asks.
