§ 3951 Parental Support Compensation Limits

• •Parents don’t have to pay back the other parent or family for supporting their child unless they agreed to pay.
• •Parents don’t have to pay a stranger who helped their child if the child left without a good reason.
• •Parents still must support their child if the government is helping the child.

A mom lets her child live with her sister for a year. The sister pays for the child’s food and school supplies.

The mom doesn’t have to pay her sister back unless they had a deal to do so.
