§ 3600 Temporary Spousal And Child Support

This law says that while a divorce or separation case is happening, a judge can order one spouse to pay money to support the other spouse or their kids.

Key Takeaways

  • •This only applies while the divorce or separation case is still in court.
  • •The judge can order money for the spouse or the kids, depending on who needs help.
  • •The amount has to be fair and follow other rules in the law.

Example

A couple is getting divorced, and one parent moves out. The kids stay with the other parent, who now has less money to pay for food and rent.

The judge can order the parent who moved out to pay money to help with the kids' food, clothes, and other needs while the divorce is still in court.
