§ 78860 Commission Member Terms

Key Takeaways

  • •Members and their backups serve for 2 years unless someone new takes over.
  • •The first group of members had some serve for only 1 year to mix up when terms end.
  • •Who serves 1 year or 2 is picked by random chance.
  • •The group can set rules to limit how long someone can serve, but they need approval.

Example

A group of farmers and winemakers form a board to help their businesses.

The first board members draw names to see who serves 1 year and who serves 2 years. After that, everyone serves 2 years unless new people join. The board can also make rules so no one stays too long, but they need the boss to agree.
