§ 77937 Commission Quorum And Voting

• •A quorum means more than half of the voting members must be there to make decisions.
• •If a member is missing, their backup can step in to help reach a quorum.
• •Once there's a quorum, most decisions need more than half of the people there to agree.

Imagine a school club with 5 members. To decide on a trip, at least 3 members must be present (that’s a quorum).

If only 2 members show up, they can’t make decisions. But if one member is missing, their backup can come instead to help reach 3 members. Then, if 2 out of those 3 agree on the trip, it’s approved.
