§ 6521 Infested Nursery Stock Destruction

Key Takeaways

  • •If plants or plant containers are moved from one place to another in the state and have bugs or diseases, they can be stopped and destroyed.
  • •The person in charge (commissioner) can decide to destroy the plants if they think the bugs or diseases could hurt other plants.
  • •If the bugs or diseases won’t hurt anything, the plants might be sent back to where they came from.

Example

A farmer sends a truckload of young trees to another county, but some of the trees have harmful bugs.

The shipment can be stopped, and the trees with bugs might be destroyed to protect other plants in the area.
