§ 61409 Milk Handler Bond Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you buy milk from farmers to make cheese or yogurt, you must get a special promise (bond) to follow the rules.
  • •If you don’t get this promise or don’t update it when asked, you’re breaking the law.
  • •This rule is for people who buy milk to turn it into other products, not for regular stores selling milk.

Example

A company buys milk from dairy farmers to make ice cream but never gets the required bond.

The company is breaking the law because they didn’t get the special promise (bond) that says they’ll follow the rules for buying milk.
