§ 57575 Lien Priority Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •Whoever files their lien notice first gets paid first from the money made from selling farm stuff.
  • •A lien is like a legal 'dibs' on money from selling farm products.
  • •Workers who haven’t been paid their wages get paid before anyone else with a lien.

Example

A farmer sells his crop, but owes money to a bank and his workers.

The workers who didn’t get their paychecks get paid first. The bank only gets paid after the workers.
