§ 55076 Rice Certification Declaration Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone asks with a good reason, the commission can say all rice from a certain area is certified for something special.
  • •Once the commission says it, all rice from that area is automatically certified.
  • •The rice can be labeled as special if it's kept separate and not mixed with other rice.

Example

A farmer in California grows rice that doesn't cause allergies. They ask the commission to certify all rice from their area as allergy-free.

If the commission agrees, all rice from that area is now officially allergy-free rice. The farmer can label it as such if they keep it separate from regular rice.
