§ 54182 Producer Association Marketing Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •Farmers can team up in groups to sell or negotiate prices for their products together.
  • •These groups can stand up for the farmers' rights, just like a single farmer could.
  • •This rule doesn’t apply to late fees for farm products delivered before 1986.

Example

A group of dairy farmers join together to sell their milk to a big company.

The group can negotiate better prices or complain about unfair treatment, just like one farmer could. But if the company was late paying for milk delivered before 1986, the group can’t charge late fees for that.
