§ 52931 Cotton Grower Referendum Petition

• •If at least 5% of cotton farmers in an area sign a petition, there will be a vote.
• •The vote is about how the rules in this chapter should work.
• •The petition must be given to the secretary to start the vote.

Imagine 100 cotton farmers in a town. If 5 of them sign a paper asking for a vote on new farming rules, the secretary must organize a vote for all 100 farmers.

The law says that if even a small group of farmers (5%) want a vote on the rules, everyone gets to vote on how things should work.
