§ 52901 Cotton Research Compliance Rules

Key Takeaways

  • •If you want to grow or test new types of cotton that aren't approved, you have to follow special rules.
  • •The rules help keep approved cotton (like Acala or Pima) pure and stop it from mixing with unapproved types.
  • •You must tell the government where you're testing the cotton and when you plant, pick, and process it.
  • •There are rules for bringing cotton seeds into the area.

Example

A farmer wants to try growing a new kind of cotton in their field to see if it grows better.

The farmer can't just plant it. They have to tell the government where the field is and when they will plant and pick the cotton. They also have to follow rules to make sure their new cotton doesn't mix with the regular cotton nearby.
